McMahan

On April 28, 2024, Officers with the Morganton Department of Public Safety responded to the area of Martha’s Park for a report of a man with a knife. Upon arrival, units located Rodney Eugene McMahan, 46, of Morganton in the parking area beside the park. Witnesses were interviewed and it was discovered that McMahan had been involved in an argument with three juveniles beside the park. At this time, a witness called 911 to report the disturbance where law enforcement arrived within moments and detained McMahan. Officers took McMahan into custody and charged him with the following offenses:

  • Assault with a Deadly Weapon
  • Communicating Threats

McMahan received a $2,500 secured bond and a first appearance for August 2, 2024. McMahan was also banned from all city parks following this incident.
