Man Receives Felony Charge after Assaulting Officer

On March 16, 2024, Officers with the Morganton Department of Public Safety responded to the area of 315 Sanford Drive for an intoxicated subject. During the investigation, officers came into contact with Michael Henry Robinson, 35, of Valdese. Robinson was subsequently arrested following the investigation. While in custody, Robinson began to resist officers by kicking them in the face while on the ground and then feloniously assaulted an officer by spitting in his face. Robinson was transported to the Burke County Magistrate’s Office where he received the following charges:

 

  • Malicious Conduct by a Prisoner
  • Assault on a Law Enforcement Officer
  • Damage to Property
  • Intoxicated and Disruptive
  • Resist, Delay, Obstruct Public Officer (3 Counts)

 

Robinson received a $25,000 secured bond and a first appearance of March 17, 2024.
