Stabbing leads to Arrest

On November 30, 2022 at approximately 10:10 p.m., Officers with Morganton Department of Public Safety responded to 200 East View St. Upon arrival Officers discovered a juvenile had been stabbed in the head with a pocket knife. The juvenile was transported to UNC Health Blue Ridge in Morganton by Burke County EMS. The juvenile was treated for their injuries and was later released from care.

Investigators responded to the scene to assist with the investigation. The juvenile’s brother, Danny Donaldo Ortiz-Ortiz, 18 years of age, of the home was arrested on scene at charged with N.C.G.S. 14-33(C)(1), Assault Inflicting Serious Injury. Ortiz-Ortiz was placed in the Burke County Jail under a $5,000 secure bond with an initial court appearance on December 1, 2022.
