Repeat Drug Offender Arrested for Meth Possession

(Morganton, NC)  Public Safety Officer's arrest a female for possession of drugs after a vehicle stop on South Sterling Street in Morganton.

At approximately 2:15am, a dark Ford Expedition was observed leaving the back parking lot of Sossoman Funeral Home.  Given the fact there have been an increase in property crimes the last few weeks, Sgt. Belanger initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle.  Upon further investigation, Sgt. Belanger found the driver's license to be suspended.  The driver, Stacey Lynn Erikson, 41 of Lenoir, was charged with driving while license revoked.  A consent search of the vehicle yielded 3.5 grams of a substance that field tested positive for methamphetamine, scales, plastic bags and marijuana.  Erickson was placed under arrest and transported to the Burke County Jail where an additional 15.5 grams of methamphetamine was located on her person.

Erickson was charged with Possession with Intent to Manufacture, Sell or Deliver Schedule II Controlled Substance, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Simple Possession of Schedule VI and Possession of a Controlled Substance on Prison or Jail Premises.  Erickson was jailed under at $20,000.00 secured bond.  Erickson's first appearance in court is scheduled for Friday Morning (3/31/2023) in the District Court of Burke County.
