House Fire

On August 13th, 2022 Morganton Public Safety was dispatched to a House Fire at 101 Constitution Dr. of Morganton. First arriving units found fire extending to the exterior of the structure through a bedroom window. Suppression crews quickly began deploying hose lines to the interior and exterior of the house to combat the flames. The fire was brought under control quickly by suppression crews. Crews worked diligently to assure all residents was safely out of the house. The fire was contained to a bed room and hallway. However, smoke and heat affected most of the interior space of the house. Firefighters rescued the tenants cat from the fire. The cat was healthy and well when released back to the owner.

 

City of Morganton Electric Department personnel was contacted to respond to turn-off the power to the residence. Fire Personnel remained on the scene for approximately 2hrs hours extinguishing fire extension. No injuries to victims or Fire personnel was found or reported. The fire is still under investigation by Morganton Public Safety fire investigators. It appears the fire is accidental at this time, possibly starting in the bedroom from a cigarette.

 

Morganton Public Safety Fire Division would like to encourage all citizens to please be responsible and in aware of any ignition sources within their homes that could possibly start a fire resulting in the loss of life and possessions.
