Deceased male located in creek
On January 31, 2024 at 12:31 p.m., Morganton Department of Public Safety received a call of a deceased man located in a creek near 2nd St. Officers responded and located a male submerged in water a short distance from the road. Burke County EMS was requested for assistance. Morganton Public Safety Criminal Investigations Division responded to the scene. The deceased male was identified as Marco Aurelio Solis-Lopez of 410 Burkemont Ave, Morganton. Solis-Lopez was reported missing on January 28, 2024 by family members. Solis-Lopez had not been seen by family members since the early morning hours of January 26, 2024. At this point in the investigation there is no foul play suspected and the case remains open pending autopsy results.
