Sr. Plant Maintenance Mechanic

This position performs journeyman- level mechanical work in the troubleshooting, operation, maintenance, and repair of large and specialized equipment and machinery (electric motors, pumps, etc.) in water-pumping stations and at the water plant.  Work requires knowledge of trade skills of mechanical and plumbing areas with some knowledge of electrical and electronic repairs.  This position serves as a lead worker and works under general supervision.  Work is evaluated in terms of effectiveness, in returning equipment to proper operating conditions within given time schedules, and overall effectiveness of system performance.  Position works core hours of 7:00 AM – 3:00 PM Monday through Friday and will be on call every other week. 

Graduation from high school supplemented by courses in mechanical or plumbing trades, and considerable experience in water and sewer treatment and/or treatment pumping station equipment maintenance and repair; or an equivalent combination of education and related experience is desired.  The applicant must possess a valid North Carolina driver’s license.  Salary range $35,179 - $52,769; hiring range dependent on experience.
